The Crossroad of Destiny

It was the middle of the afternoon. Classes were in session, but Artemis was skipping. She sat on the cold stone floor with a pheonix perched beside her. She ran her hand over it's blue and silver feathers. She simply stared at the sky through the window in front of her. Beside her a letter lay open.

Krutika walked out of the trophy room, having just finished detention of cleaning and polishing trophies and awards. She was just walking when she looked at a Gryffindor girl sitting on the floor looking out of the window - but what caught her attention was the pheonix in her hands, which she thought was really beautiful.

[Heather Granger]

Heather had just spent an hour revising in the libary and was going to get more books and a spot of lunch when she noticed Kruitika and Artemis ralaxing looking out of the window. " Hey guys, shouldn't you be in class?" Heather asked them perplexed in the phoenix.

Krutika turned back and looked at Heather, "Oh, hi Heather.. I was actually a bit busy with you know.. detention.. That idiot Filch.. he wouldn't let students live in peace! Gave me a detention for a small reason of leaving dungbombs in his office just to distract him for scolding innocent little first years.." she shook her head as if she had just told tale of great cruelty, "I have been polishing these trophies for hours.. But anyways, who cares? I am used to detentions now.. sort of routine you know.." she shrugged, "So, where are you going? Library?"

[Heather Granger]

"No, i have just been, i may go and get some more books to revise after lunch before lessons." Heather replied to her, "nice day today."

Artemis remained silent. It wasn't like her to not answer a friend. She drew her knees to her chin. The pheonix grabbed the letter an placed it on Artemis's knees, and then stood in front of her laying it's head on top of the letter. "No Celestia, I already read it. There's no point in answering it." She said solemnly to the pheonix

"Hey Artemis whats the matter?" Heather said feeling the warmth of the sun on her face, and watching in awe the phoenix.

"Here you read it." Artemis said taking the letter and handing it to Heather. The letter simply read:

Artemis-

I don't have much time to write this, so I will try get you as much information as I can. I'm on break right now and at home, but we're being raided by death eaters. Apprently dad must of offended one by accident.

They killed dad, but mom and me are going into hiding. Artemis you have a choice now. You can join me and mom or can stay in school. I'm just begging you, don't do anything stupid. I know you're tough, but you can't stand a chance against them.

Just be careful Artemis, please. Keep Celestia with you. Don't answer this letter. When we find a safe spot, I'll tell you where we are.

Artemis kept her eyes on the window as the pheonix nudged her under the chin.

Krutika silently looked at Artemis and Heather as Heather read the letter. By the look of it, something was wrong. But she didnot know whether she should ask or not, as it may be something personal.

[Heather Granger]

Heather looked at Artemis, and just gave her a hug, " You know it will be alright, Hogwarts in the safest place for you to be now." Heather said giving her the letter back, " i am sure they will be fine."

Artemis stood up ad handed the letter to the pheonix. "Celestia, take this to James in Hogsmeade. You know where he's staying." She watched the pheonix fly out the window. "The Thomas family is the most powerful wizarding family in Greece. And all Athena and my mother can do is hide. They think I have only two choices. I see three choices. My dad didn't teach me to hunt and fight for no reason."

[Heather Granger]

"Listen there is no need to do anything to dangerous as me and Kruitika have been in situations like this and you may think you are strong but you are really not." Heather said trying to make Artemis change her mind.

"Heather, there is no changing my mind. My family is very determined. So don't even try. I'll avenge my father's death. I'll hunt down whoever killed him." Artemis said as she reached in her pocket and pulled out a silver anklet. Artemis never wore it because it never fit her style. She bent over and put it on.

When Krutika heard what Artemis said about her dad she felt really very bad for her. And by the look of it, he was too killed by Death Eaters. Her hatred for Voldemort and Death Eaters grew - if it was possible - more. She walked towards Artemis, "I think you are right if you want to fight and pay them back.." she said politely, "And me and I am sure Heather too, are always there if you ever need us."

"I will always be there for you." Heather said to Artemis, " I have faced him before and i am not scared to face him again."
