Oryn chuckled. "Well, since I only accept permission when your head is clear, there is no risk... just also no possibility. Although I suppose a letter could suffice, written while your head is clear."

He continued to hold her and float as she continued. He wasn't quite provoking her anymore, but neither was he letting her calm herself very much. "What is it, Hummingbird?"

Flyte bit her lip, unsure how to say what she wanted too but knowing that anything that came back via another source would be distorted and sound much more sinister. She decided to say as much to Oryn.

'Well its nothing really, I just thought I should tell you myself - you know what gossip is like..' she ran her fingertips along his arms as she spoke. 'I was haunting the corridors late at night, as I do, and I ran into Professor Kerr. He was feeling miserable so I took him for a midnight swim in the lake, he saved me from drowning, a werewolf and I helped him lighten up a bit. I also have detention this afternoon.'

He didn't even realize it, but Oryn's hands (finally) grew still on her as he thought about what she said, trying to maintain control of his reactions. "Wait... a werewolf? There was a werewolf on the grounds? And... how did you almost drown?" Oryn was legitimately alarmed at this news, making the rest of it all secondary to it.

'Well, I wouldn't have drowned but the Grindylows were trying to drag me under... Stephen, Professor Kerr, saved me.. And I am not sure how A werewolf got on campus but it was a full moon, Stephen held me still until it was gone... I was totally safe with him - I could tell.' Flyte grinned reassuringly at Oryn.
'He's a really great guy, I knew he would be the first time I saw him.'

Oryn floated with Flyte, completely immobile for the moment as he processed this. It was, he decided, strange that she thought Kerr was a nice guy... Oryn couldn't remember a single person who didn't think that the guy was the biggest prick in the universe.

He thought for another moment, then asked, "So... he touched you?" in a very casual voice.

'Touched me?' Flyte's voice betrayed her confusion. 'Yeah, he did, I mean he had too...'

She looked across at Oryn's face and raised an eyebrow.

'Oryn, what?'

[Oryn Vance]

Oryn shrugged. "Nothing, nothing... I just need to make sure of that. I really, really wouldn't want to start a duel with a professor when there was the possibility that there wasn't anything to start it over," he said, his emotions unreadable. He smiled slightly, but as he was still behind her, he doubted she could see that.

[Flyte Vance]

'Of course there wasn't! I am just his emotional Guardian Angel.' Flyte laughed at the memory. 'Imagine you dueling with the Professor! That would just be silly!'

She turned in Oryn's arms so that she could wrap her arms around him and kissed him.

'Besides he's a defence against the dark arts teacher - it would hardly be even!'

"True, but such is the price of pride," Oryn said with a sigh. He smirked, then kissed her back. "But also such is the price of the heart, that if you don't wish me to hurt him, I will have to be satisfied with your assurances that there is no reason for me to need to take such... drastic measures."

[Flyte Vance]

'Of course not! He's a teacher! It would be like two years at least until thats even a blip on the radar - if it was going to be, which its not.' Flyte realised she was kidn of making things worse by trying to make them better so she put both hands over her mouth. Her eyes were wide with shock.

Speaking between her clenched fingers she said 'I am just going to shut up now.'

Oryn, in the meantime, chuckled a little. "Well, if you aren't going to speak, I suppose I could just distract you so that there was no need." At which point, of course, he kissed her.

Flyte enjoyed the kiss and the one that followed that. Then broke her own decree.

'I told you I was impulsive, as long as you trust that I don't set out to do anything I shouldn't then I think we should be okay.' she looked seriously at Oryn.

'Trusting yourself is the most important thing, knowing what you would do, thats what makes it easier for other people to trust us. Ask me anything and I could tell you what I would do!' she challenged.

Oryn quirked an eyebrow. He wasn't sure how to answer this. Then he smiled slightly. "A puppy and a kitten are dangling over this tub in a basket. You can take one out, but if you do, the basket falls apart and the other falls. If you don't pick one, both fall. Which would you pull out of the basket?"

'The kitten.' Flyte thought the answer was obvious. 'Cats HATE water and puppies can swim. Thats why they call it the doggy paddle!' she laughed. Slipping under the water she removed the tie from her hair and let it fan out around her, tossing it back she re-emerged.

'I can't help but think you were teasing me with the cute factor of that question.' she smiled, 'I may be sunshine and rainbows but I can storm too you know!' she mock pouted and splashed him.

"I wouldn't doubt it," he answered with a smile. "But a question like that... it's a bit difficult to come up with one on the fly like that.," he chuckled. "And what can I say... you make me think of cute things," he teased.
