Jude tried her best to sleep soundly covered in her down comforter, but squirmed in her bed, the nightmares still playing through her mind, every night. She was used to it by now, 7 years later, but it still upset her. She sat up in her bed, soaked in a cold sweat, and tears running down her cheeks. She grabbed her wand. "Lumos" she said quietly and lit her wand looking for her book, she had been reading. Jude had taken up reading lately as a way to balance her nightmares and real life. She read through a chapter quickley but unfocused. She got up quietly from her bed, slipped on her shoes and sweater and opened the window adjacent her bed. She crawled out onto the roof of the tower, sitting and watching the sky, as the sun started to rise, barely an inch above the ground. She pulled her sweaters hood above her head, and covered her eyes. She layed her hands behind her head and layed back waiting for the sun to rise and warm her, and take away the pain again. Like every other morning.

This year the summer was unusually sunny and warm. Unusually but also unfortunately. Jasper hated hiding and with the sun so strong he had to spend most of the time hidden in the shadows and dressed in long sleeves to hide every possible piece of his skin. The night was his time. The time to hunt, to enjoy his existence. This time after a very good hunt (two bears) he decided to spend the night in his hidden room, or rather on the roof near it, watching the stars and enjoying the soft wind of his stone hard skin.
The roof was also the only place where no one would notice anything unusual if the sun touched his skin. After all that kind of light would be caused by the reflection of the sun on the roof top and it wouldn't make anyone suspicious. He stretched out on his stomach with the hood on his head watching the pale skin of his wrist, waiting for the first rays to touch it

Jude heard a rustling of clothes, a boy spreading out, not far from her. He was tightly dressed, covering all of his skin and Jude was the curious type. She pulled her hood lower, back down around her neck and stood up on the roof, walking to the boy. She sat down net to him. Not introducing herself, and not expecting him to right away either. She enjoyed the mustery of strangers, and loved to talk without background knowledge. Without bias. She pulled her knees up to her chest, and put her arms around her knees. "It's beautiful. The sky. The sun rising over the mountains, the heat breaking over my skin. This is my favorite place." She said staring at the sun, not even looking down at the boy.

Jasper didn't show it on his face but his mood was ruined. He hoped for a bit of warmth on his skin but when the stranger joined him he hid his hand back in the sleeve of his hoodie, crossing his arms under his chin. His face wouldn't be touched by the sun for the next hour so he was safe now, hidden in the layers of clothes. "This is, indeed" Jasper said. "It's always so calm in the morning" It was a human thing to say

Jude finally turned to the boy, analyzing his face, wondering why so much clothing, it was anything but cold this morning. "But calm isn't always good. I like exciting mornings. Exciting days, exciting nights. Calm is usually boring, and boring is never fun." She turned back rest her hands on top of her knees, and her head on her hands watching him.

"Sometimes calm is good. It's like home. Like a peaceful bay after a stormy trip" Jasper said quietly looking at the tree tops, his golden eyes hidden behind his lavender eyelids. His face looked tired, even after the recent hunt. All the thing that had troubled him for the past weeks left him tired mentally, with still too many mysteries to solve

Jude turned to his beaten. "Your right, I guess. You're right." She put her hand out for a shake. "I'm Jude."

"Jasper" He said taking her hand gently. His own hand was icy cold but at least now he had an excuse of staying outside at night. "So you don't like calm life?" He asked with a small smile hiding his hand back under his chin. The first sun rays appeared over the horizon gently caressing the top of the highest tower.

She shook his hand and pulled away, his cold hand freezing hers, she still wasn't scared or worried, just numb. Indifferent. "No, I'm a wild one. Vampires, werewolves, dragons, that kind of stuff amazes me. I seem more at home. I'm a party girl, too. Loud music, people dancing. Everyones blood pumping and the heat rising. It's just a great place to be. What about you? You like the exciting or the quiet?"

"Oh gods, not another one" Jasper groaned turning his head away. "I bed you'll like Emmie Damselfly then. You seem to have similar interests with dangerous creatures. She's particularly fond of vampires." At least he hoped that this time she wouldn't have a suspicious protector like Emmie. And it was easier to resist her blood too. "Parties are alright" But not with the blood pumping. It was difficult to resist humans without it. "I like music. Sometimes I perform with my brother in a muggle bar"

Jude smiled at him. "Another one? You meet girls obsessed with danger often? I haven't met an Emmie yet, but I'm sure we'll get along." Jude stood up and walked to the other side of him, because he had turned away. And her leg an grown asleep, she needed some activity. "Performing is cool? What do you play?" She paused looking at him, "You aren't interested in talking to me. What can I do to make you like me, Jasper."

"Fortunately you're the second I meet" Jasper answered calmly looking up at her. And strangely they always wanted him to like them. As if they knew what he was. "I'm just tired. I need a big cup of strong coffee" Now that was a very human thing. And coffee wasn't that bad. Jasper learned to drink it to look human. The taste was foul but the venom would clear his mouth and stomach from it fast. "Usually we both play guitars. Sometimes I add a harmonica and Aidan adds a tambourine"

"Hold on a sec." She climbed back down to her window reached inside for 2 mugs and filled them with hot coffee, they always had coffee brewing in the girls dorms. She crawled back unto the roof coffee in hand. "Now you can cheer up." She laughed. Positioning herself next to him. "I play guitar too. Acoustic mostly, but I can play electric too. What else can you tell me about yourself, Jasper?"

"Thank you" Jasper smiled sitting up. His hands, still hidden in his sleeves warpped around the cup. His face was still in the shadow. "This is what I need" He took a small sip and made a very content face even though he didn't enjoy it at all. "I'm a seventh year. Transfered last year from Beauxbatons."
