Estelle walked and sat down at the Gryffindor table, placing her bag beside her. She was very hungry when she woke up today, so she piled nearly everything onto her plate. Sausages, golden hash browns, mushroom and cheese omelette, toast and grilled tomatoes.
She ate the delicious food in front of her, oblivious to everything but the taste of the juicy sausages and cheesy omelette, savouring every last bit as it went down. She was doing all of this, minding her own delicious business, when someone plopped into the seat next to her.

Anna was tired from Quidditch practice yesterday. She remembered it quite well. Heavy rain poured down hard on the already wet ground. It got worse when she was in the air, flying.
She took a long deep sigh and walked to the Great Hall. She looked at the Gryffindor table and saw most of the place was occupied. Her legs trobbed with pain. Urgh! Today is not going to be well... She scanned carefully amongst the crowd and glad to find Estelle there. She walked right toward her and said, "Hi, can I seat beside you?". As usual, she awaited no reply and sat herself next to the girl.
Anna poured herself some orange juice in a large goblet. "So, Estelle, anything interesting happening lately?"

Estelle looked up at the person who sat next to her. Oh, it's Anna. She swallowed her food and gave the girl a smile. She seemed to be seeing her a lot, lately. Oh well, she's not complaining. A friendly face is always welcomed.
Anything interesting? Hmm...
"I don't think so...Not unless you want to count yesterday evening...My cousin sent me a letter. She's in Salem, by the way. The letter..no, the howler was gratefully received by yours truly in front of everyone in the common room yesterday. You were probably at practice, at that time," she said, taking a swig out of her goblet.
"Anyway...Kirsten sent me the howler because I told her I've accidentally killed Irwin during the holidays. Irwin is..no, was her pet. She asked me to take care of him while she was off holidaying with her parents in Switzerland..' here Estelle rolled her eyes, "So she went ballistic when she found out. I've kept the secret from her until the day before yesterday, when I told her. Hah! That should teach the ninny something!" she said, not a sign of guilt or remorse on her face, oblivious to the fact that death was probably not a very good topic to start the day.

Anna was munching on a mouthful of pancakes when Estelle told her about her cousin. She didn't mind about people talking about death. She liked it, though she never knew why. Her Uncle Luke was an ex-inmate of Azkaban, now he's six feet under the ground. She liked him. She remembered clearly those days when her uncle was 'still' innocent. He always told her stories about the people he befriended and the things he did, but of course not the murders that he had done. She was used to it. She liked it. No questions about that.
"Interesting...." said Anna. "So, what was Irwin like?" Anna stressed the 'Irwin' and looked at Estelle.

Estelle seemed pleased that Anna was so understanding. It didn't even look like she was bothered with her talking about death and killing. 'Well, at any rate I still have to explain,' she thought to herself.
"Irwin -God bless him-' Estelle snorted as she said it, "was a very nice pet to have around. A little messy at times, but what can you do? Spiders make webs to eat. Irwin's no exception. But really, when he died, I didn't do it on purpose. I just thought that it was another spider, another daddy-long-legs too. So I squished it flat with my divination book," she said, a smile tugging at her lips, tarnishing the somewhat 'trying-to-be-grim' expression.
"I think it's best that he's moved on to another world. At least he won't have to face Kirsten...do you know, that ninny won't even let him out of his cage, once in a while?" Estelle said, rolling her eyes.
"...Then again," she said, laughing, "that's how I accidentally squished him."

A spider! Ha! Anna nearly chocked on her pancakes. "You've got to be kidding, right? A spider....a daddy-long-legs?" replied Anna. She could just imagine the big fat divination book on the little thing. "Why on earth would your cousin have a thin-legged spider? I mean, come to think of it, you can barely see the creature....unless its humungous or something..." continued Anna. Swallowing hard with a little difficulty on the pancakes (Anna did not like to chew foods carefully) she took her goblet and drank the orange juice.
"You said your cousin was at Salem? Where is the school anyways And why are you here and not there with her?" asked Anna.

Estelle smiled as she saw the reaction on Anna's face. She liked it when she made someone laugh. It made her feel good.
"Weird, no?" she said in response to Anna's question about the ludicrousness of having a spider as a pet.
"And you know...you had the answer in your question. She's there, in Salem. Do I need any other reason?" She said, smiling a little as she cut her omelette.
"As to where Salem is...I don't know actually. I see her during Christmas, she annoys me, I annoy her, we go back to our separate lives..." she said, waving her hand, brushing off the matter.
"...Another reason why I chose Hogwarts is quite honestly, because of its reputation. Which other school has a colourful history like ours? Plus...if it was good enough for Harry Potter and Hermione Granger, it's good enough for me..." She smiled a little before continuing. "Besides, the offer letter only came from this school."
"Did you get any other offers? How do you think they know, anyway? ...About who to offer to and such?..Very curious, if you ask me..." she commented, before taking in a mouthful of the omelette.

Anna was puring more orange juice in her goblet. Clearly, she was thirsty from yesterday's practice.
"Ahh, yes. I still am confused with how the school managed to send offers to students here," said Anna.
She drank a few sips and put the goblet down again. "I was not from here during my first and second year. I didn't got any offer. I transfered here because my family had to move to Britain. Hogwarts' nearer."

"Oh, I see," Estelle commented, listening to Anna.
"You were originally from?" she asked interested in her friend's past.

Anna was looking up beyond the floating candle. She was hoping that the morning owl would bring her news about the outside world. Clearly, sometimes, she thinks that she was imprisoned here at Hogwarts. "Oh, I was from Beauxbatons! You should try and visit there sometimes. Its really nice -the place, I mean." replied Anna. The owls would be late again I assume!
After she felt that her neck was aching, she looked at Estelle. "I missed the place and all my friends! Three years at Hogwarts's not that long...seems like just yesterday when I first came here..."

"Beauxbatons?" Estelle exclaimed, as if she couldn't believe her ears.
"My great aunt, whom I live with, by the way, was from Beauxbatons," she said as her eyes rounded.
"Which do you prefer? Hogwarts or Beauxbatons?" she asked.

"I really don't know!" said Anna and shook her head. Since she had been living at Hogwarts for maybe slightly more than two years, which was longer than at Beauxbatons, she should answer Hogwarts. "I mean...to say that Hogwarts and Beauxbatons are the same...they are completely two different things. Personally, I think Beauxbatons for better than Hogwarts in some different ways. Like the administration. Students at Hogwarts here when I first came here really shocked the eyes out of my head. We seem not to have any etiquette. When You-Know-Who was released...you know, Beauxbatons acted as though nothing happened at all. Most of them are ignoring the fact that these are dark times...but at Hogwarts, people all around are really high-spirited..you know...wanted to learn things so that they could defeat the Dark Lord. I guessed maybe...its Harry Potter. He influenced all of Hogwarts."

Estelle nodded. "Yeah, I guess it is..." she agreed.
"You know, Beauxbatons actually had..." her gaze rested briefly on the plate of muffins before them. She saw something moving... "Maggots!" she cried, getting up as quickly as she could.

"Maggots!?" said Anna surprisingly. "Our...I mean Beauxbatons' foods are the best...and the cleanest too if I may add." Anna couldn't believe what Estelle just said. "Who told you that..." Anna stopped as she realised that Estelle was not beside her. She was standing instead. "What's the matter?"

"Maggots!" Estelle said as she pointed to the plate of muffins.
"Owh...So that's what was in the parcel that came with the Howler...Kirsten!" Estelle said as her eyes followed the trail that came from her bag.
