"You're welcome," he said, as quietly as ever.
Phoenix was quiet as well, then finally spoke up. "You know, one of the things that people have always said is my best quality is that I listen well and know how to... keep quiet," he said, smiling very slightly.

Seniade nodded briefly, her eyes staring at the mess she'd made and very very very slowly, she leaned forward, her hands shaking and began to pick up the parchment shreds and wrapped the broken pieces of her quill in it throw the whole package away eventually. Hadrian soon grew tired of her ignoring him and hopped to her shoulder again, nipping her ear on the lobe hard.
"Ouch, Hadrian..." Seniade winced barely as her ear welled up with some blood. She began to stroke his soft chest feathers in absentmindedly. She glanced over at Phoenix briefly and then brought her eyes back towards the wall. He said he wouldn't tell... but that was earlier when I was panicking.. will he still live up to that now?

Phoenix watched her patiently, unaware of the renewed doubts she was having about him. He wouldn't blame her suspicion, of course. But he'd given his word, so he would keep it. And he wouldn't leave unless ordered to while someone he knew was in such obvious distress.

Seniade rested her forehead on her bent knees, thinking hard. Hadrian had nuzzled up in her neck and occupied himself by playing with the curls in her ponytail that escaped while Sen's hand tapped the floor in an irregular beat. Finally she spoke.
"I'll tell him I'm sick, too sick to travel. Or I've gotten a massive amount of homework to do and I need the library's resources. Or I need to study and I need the teacher nearby to ask questions..." Seniade babbled a list of excuses she could send to her father, some feasible, some with ways around, and some absolutely ridiculous.

"You'll do what you have to do," Phoenix said quietly. "Just think carefully about what you're going to tell him, and run it by someone you can trust, unless you can calm yourself considerably by then." He was quiet for a moment. "You're of age. If he pulls you from school, he loses any legal hold on you. It will be all right." He hesitated, then added, "But if you do decide to go... I'd suggest the same thing that I've had suggested to me. Don't go alone."

Seniade nodded as Phoenix spoke; she knew all of this already with the legal status and everything, but she didn't want to deal with even risking the chance she'd have to return to him for even one hour while paperwork went through all the proper people. "I haven't exactly spoken to anyone ... about this.... ever..." Meaning she didn't have anyone she could trust. Not with this.
"I don't think taking someone home with me is a feasible solution. It wouldn't be right........ to subject someone else to..... that." She bit her lower lip hard. Sen was getting closer and closer to saying it, and she wasn't too sure that Phoenix hadn't already put the pieces together; if he'd seen the bruises she came to school with, he'd already have known.

"I'm not saying that it's an... ideal situation. But if you have to go, you shouldn't go alone. I'm sure that you won't find a shortage of people who would be willing to go with you." There was more to the situation than she wanted to let on. He had his suspicions, and though he didn't know which, if any, were true, none of them were good.

Sen stared at her hands, clutched together tightly, shaking slightly as she took a deep breath, pushing the panic down again before she had to run. In fact her leg gave a small twitch as if it couldn't wait to get moving. But she couldn't move. Seniade swallowed hard and risked a look up at Phoenix.
"I'll need to head to Gringotts and tap into the trust fund I have there. My grandparents set it up before they passed away. Get myself set up somewhere before this shakes down." She shook visibly again, her entire body quaking in fear. "Know of anywhere in Hogsmeade that's safe?" She tried to make it sound like a joke, but in truth she was scared to leave the safety of Hogwarts. For centuries, the old school had been always considered the safest place to be.
