Malak sighed and shook her head. "Oh Phoenix," Malak whispered softly. She could feel him trying to pull away from her. Malak turned her back on Phoenix and then leaned against him so that she was lying against his side. "Did you know Phoenix...the night that you and Sylvia were attacked...I spent the night with a werewolf. He was hurt...so I stayed with him until the morning so that I could heal him. Turns out he didn't need it." She didn't expand on that. Hopefully Phoenix wouldn't ask about it in the morning. THat could get complicated.

Phoenix didn't seem to be listening. Instead, he just slid back closer to her, placing his great wolfish head on her lap, still whimpering pitifully. Great tears still streamed down its sparsely-furred face. He wasn't trying to pull away from her... but neither would he really look at her.

Malak stroked Phoenix's fur even as he cried. He wouldn't look at her. She was going to have to settle with that for now. She could only push Phoenix so far. "We have all night love," Malak whispered. "I won't leave you. Tonight is our first full moon together. The last one we both had very interesting nights. Tonight will be much better."

The werewolf turned its head until it was looking up at her with its sad eyes, then it lay its head back down on her lap, trying to slow its breathing. When it lay still and calm, it finally stood up.
It stood hunched over, like it couldn't decide whether to walk on two legs or four. But this posture somehow looked right. It took a few experimental steps, the chain rattling after it.

Phoenix's eyes were so sad that it almost broke Malak's heart. But he had looked at her. How wonderful was that? He slowed his breathing then slowly stood. He was huge. He towered over her now more than ever before. She stared in wonder as he took his first tentavie werewolf steps. The chain rattled, but Malak pushed the sound aside.
"You're doing wonderful Phoenix," Malak encouraged him standing up a moving after him slowly.

Phoenix took a deep breath. he felt the wind rushing through his bristly fur, and continued moving around, getting a feel for this body. He could feel the power in it, and the speed. He could smell just as keenly as he could in his animagus form, but... the power this body had. His breath quickened. Looking up, he saw the moon and howled, throwing his head back in abandon.

Malak smiled as Phoenix seemed to relax and get a taste for his new body. Then he threw his head back and howled to the moon. Malak sighed with relief and then sat down cross-legged. Her sweet Phoenix. Her wolf prince. She was glad that he didn't seem to hate himself. Or, she hoped he didn't hate himself.

Phoenix didn't hate this. No, quite the opposite. Phoenix loved how this body felt. He loved the senses, the power, the agility. He loved the way he could feel the wind blowing through his hair. He could smell, he could see, he could hear, he could hunt. He could just picture himself, rushing through the forest...
He paused, then looked back down at the floor. Then, quietly, he walked back over to where Malak sat and sat down next to her, a bit awkwardly because of the shape of his body now.

Malak smiled as the werewolf who was her boyfriend sat down beside her. Malak raised her hand and pet him. "Will you watch over me tonight my wolf prince? Unlike you...I unfortunately do not have enough energy to stay up all night. Put I also want you to enjoy tonight...you deserve it."

Phoenix nodded, then nuzzled against her face gently. The great werewolf stood, then walked over to where it had thrown its cloak and wand. the chain held it back, but he lay on the ground, stretching his arm and leg, now considerably longer, as far as they could go, and managed to catch the corner of the cloak. He sat down again, shaking the cloak clumsily, letting his wand rattle out. He stared at it for a moment, then nodded toward it, hoping that Malak would catch on and hold onto it for him until the morning.

Malak smiled as her werewolf nuzzled her face gently. He was being so careful. He stood and moved over to where his cloak rested. He couldn't quite reach it with the chain so he laid out and reached for it. Malak was pround (and impressed) that he was able to still reach the cloak. He shook the cloak and his wand clattered to the stones. He stared at it before nodding towards it.
Malak stood up and took up Phoenix's wand. "I'll make sure it's still safe for you in the morning love," Malak promised.

Phoenix nodded, unable to smile at her. Then he looked dubiously at the ground, which was really her only sleeping option.
He thought for a minute, then motioned to the door. Then he lay down loosely on the ground, dropping the cloak nearby. He hoped she got his meaning... either she could go inside, which he couldn't possibly blame her for, or she could use him to make herself as comfortable as she could, with the cloak all he could offer as a blanket.

Malak caught his meaning quite well. There was no way she was going back inside. She might not be able to stay awake, but she wasn't going to leave him either. She refused. So, she walked over and arranged Phoenix's cloak so that it was her spread and her own cloak was her blanket. "You look glorious my wolf prince," she promised him softly as she laid down.

Tired himself, Phoenix lay down next to her. He hadn't had a decent night's sleep in a week, and now that his body was in the form it had been trying to get to all week, he could finally rest, since the wolfsbane potion let him go without feeling the need to hunt people. He curled up a few feet away from her, knowing that if she were any closer, he'd run the risk of moving in his sleep and whapping her with his over-large limbs.

Phoenix curled up a few feet away from Malak. She wanted to scoot closer to him, but thinking about it, that probably wouldn't be the best idea. He probably would just keep moving away. He probably had good reason for not wanting to be near here. Maybe he thought he was going to squish her in his sleep. That thought made Malak giggle even as her eyes drooped sleepily. "Good night my love, sleep well." Malak whispered.
