"I don't care" Leah said shrugging. "She shouldn't make him upset. He realy missed her all this time. It was sickening but he kept talking about her all the time" She was kinda jealous about it. "Besides I'm not afraid of anyone. She can bite me if she wants. I don't care. No one would miss me anyway" She turned her head away from Chris for a moment before turning back to him and smiling. "Thanks. I suppose that wouldn't work but I am really hungry so I won't say no"
As soon as Alice wrapped his arms around herself he pulled her even closer pressing her tightly against his chest. "She snapped at you because of me" He murmured kissing Alice's head. "I missed you too. More than you can imagine. We should focus on us. All the problems and other things will be discussed later with the rest of the family."

A smile tugged on the corners of Christian's lips as she said that. They seemed to have the same state of mind. If something happened to him he doubted anyone would miss him for long. "You are jealous of them aren't you? It's alright to be, I am too. It's difficult coping when both of your best friends decide to pair off leaving you as the fifth wheel. They don't understand what it's like to be alone. I'd welcome those fights personally, they still love each other afterwords." He shrugged it off, taking her arm to lead her to an empty booth in the back. "Order whatever you like, Jasper is buying."
"I know that but I still don't understand what I did wrong. Was it protecting Chris? Because I thought that was what you wanted, to help him? I can stop.." Alice suggested though a huge part of her thought that was a ridiculous idea. She couldn't leave him to suffer when he had allowed her of all people in. She tilted her head back to kiss him then turned to rest her cheek against his chest. "Tell me about your trip."

"Friends" Leah snorted and ruffled his hair this time. "At least you have friends. My parents kicked me out when they found out I was a witch. They're both muggles. I've only had one friend in my life. He's here" She pointed to her cat who jumped onto the seat beside her. "I think I'm slowly getting used to having him pay for everything. And to sleeping in beds. It's nice" she mused
"Everything. Not exactly protecting Chris but...Leah...you're not pleased with her presence. I know that" He smiled a little nuzzling her hair. "But we'll talk about it later. You'll understand my actions." He raised her chin and looked into her eyes. "I'm from Texas" He said with a small smile.

Christian nodded although he didn't know what he could possibly say to that. His problems seemed almost tame compared to hers. He after all had lived the privileged life. He flattened his hair back down awkwardly after she ruffled it, turning his attention towards the waitress as she appeared. "I'll have a double cheese burger, large fries, and a medium coke please. And the lovely lady will have.." He glanced towards Leah unsure of what to order.
"Texas?" Alice gasped, pushing her problems with Leah aside just for the time being. He was right, they could work that one out later with the rest of the family. "How come you didn't tell me on the phone? Does this mean that you don't have to go back? Tell me everything Jazz!"

"The same" Leah nodded at the waitress. "Lovely lady?" She snickered when she waitress left with their order. "Come on, you don't have to be nice." She winked at him. "i know I'm not lovely and I'm definitely not a lady, no matter how much Jasper tried to change that fact" She snickered again remembering hew behavior in a restaurant.
"I wanted to surprise you. And see your face when I say it Ma'am" He said not hiding his southern twang. It became awfully noticeable after these few weeks he'd spent there. "And you're right. I don't have to go back although I wouldn't mind taking you there. I found my parents' family houses"

"You are lovely in your own way." Christian shrugged, sipping at his drink as the waitress sat it in front of him before bustling off to finish their order. "If you aren't a lady then what are you? A man? I've always had a thing for them anyways so it doesn't bother me, ask Jasper." He added with a soft chuckle. "May I ask why you are with him?"
"Well I am surprised" Alice replied happily. She turned in his arms then jumped to hook her legs around his waist so that he was holding her. "I've gotten myself a country folk. We must get you into your old cowboy boots soon." She laughed pressing a kiss to his lips. "I would really love to see where they lived." She should have seen all of this before but she had been concentrating so hard on watching Elsie the entire time that she must have missed this.

Leah blushed when he called her lovely in her own way. "No, I'm just Leah" She answered shrugging but her eyes sparkled when he mentioned having a thing for men. "Jasper? You mean you like him? Man! He's lucky. All this attention" she sighed. "It's a long and messy story. I'll make it short. One day the rain was so heavy there was no one outside. And I was really hungry. I ran out of money. Then I saw him. Standing in the rain completely unnafected and talking on the phone. To Alice. I was trying to steal his wallet but he was faster. Somehow though he knew I had my reasons. Now I know it's his talent to sense emotions. He took me to a diner and we talked for a long time. He gave me a chance. I really don't know why he did it but he said that once someone did something similar for him. Took care of him when he was helpless. i don't know who he was talking about. And now he'd like to do the same for me" she pulled her drink closer playing with the straw
Jasper laughed happily catching her. "I have a pair in my backpack" He said tossing his head in the direction of the backpack on his back. "And a few things that belonged to my family." He reached into the pocket of his jeans and pulled out an old pocket watch. "My grandfather's. Sadly I couldn't find any family. But maybe it's better"

"Then I guess I am just Christian." He replied with a shrug, smirking at the sparkle her eyes had taken on. Most people found that disgusting. "It's just a one sided crush. It's not really lucky for him." Christian glanced away from her, his fingers tracing random patterns across the old wooden table top. "So he's taken you in too even though you stole? That man is like a regular charity case, he deserves so much more than he's been given."
Alice took the pocket watch from him as he presented it to examine it closely. A small hint of jealousy coursing through her that she was able to shake away easily. He had things from his family when she did not. She released her legs from his waist to climb down off of him, gently tucking the watch away back in his pocket. "Maybe it is better." She nodded. "But either way, I'm still happy for you."

"Then he's not lucky" Leah agreed. "But neither are you" she shook her head. "I guess. He said it's because he could feel what I was trying to hide" She mumbled blushing. There were times when she really hated Jasper's talent but at the same time she loved it. Since she met him she's always been fed and warm.

"It is." Jasper admitted after a few seconds. "I wouldn't be able to talk to them. It wouldn't be safe and they would never understand" He sighed but then he smiled and took Alice's hand. "It's alright. You are my family." He raised her hand to his lips and kissed her fingers. "I think we should see if the kids are alright. Though Leah hates being called a kid" he chuckled remembering how she'd yelled at him when he'd first called her that

"What were you hiding?" Christian asked, reaching across the table to rub his thumb across her blush. Though he pulled his hand back quickly, a blush of his own forming in his cheeks as the waitress returned with their meal. He nodded his thanks, shoving a bunch of fries into his mouth.
Alice nodded, allowing a smile to grace her lips as he pressed a kiss to her hand. "I know, you are my family now. But maybe next time you decide to take a trip to the States, we could make a quick stop in Mississippi?" She asked with a small hint of hope in her voice as she took his hand to lead him in the direction of the diner that the two teenagers had stopped at.

Leah's little stubborn heart melted a little when he touched her cheek. She didn't look at him though staring at her plate. "That I'm good the way I am." She shrugged poking her cheeseburger with a fry. Finally she got to the ketchup in the cheeseburger dipping the fry in it before taking a bite. "i don't complain. I wasn't unhappy. Sometimes it was cold and it's true it's better to have a home and food always waiting for you instead of having to fight for it but my life wasn't bad. But it can always get better, right?" she looked up and him smiling faintly. "So why not to try?"

"Actually I think we should go there to visit all the places of our human lives. But without hurry" Jasper said following her to the diner. "More like a tourist trip than a research. And we could take Elsie with us. Have a vacation" He mused smiling softly. A lazy time with Alice was something he needed. Something to relax, calm down and enjoy happiness.

Christian gave her another good once over before nodding that she was right. He couldn't see anything wrong with her so far except for her attitude before but he and Addy were the same way so that was nothing big. "There's no problem in trying." He replied, taking another healthy sip of his drink. "So are you going to stick with Jazz while you are here? Where are you staying at?"
"I think I'd like that. It would be less disappointing that way if we are unable to find anything because we will just look for fun." Alice agreed. She dropped his hand to wrap her arm around his middle, leaning into his side as they walked. "You know, I would find that a cute scene if it weren't for the fact that she had snapped at me." She stated, stopping in front of the window of the diner and nodding in the direction of the couple in the back.

"He considers leaving me with his family. He said his brother's room is now free. He got married or something" She waved her hand dismissively. "I don't know. I'd rather live on my own but he doesn't trust me. He said I need a normal home, not a basement. And breakfast evry day" At that she grinned. Breakfast was a good idea.
"She snaps at me too. Most of the time" Jasper said watching the two as his arm wrapped tightly around Alice's shoulders. "It's her self-defense mechanism. She attacks so she doesn't get attacked first" He explained. After some time with Leah he learned how to read her and his talent was very useful in this case
