Bryan stood on a stairstep looking at the vast entrence hall. It was breakfast and everyone was in the great hall eating. 'lets create a little chaos' he thought as he took a small box from his pocket waiting for breakfast to be over

Adelaide sat eating her breakfast, slowly, uninterested. It was her seventh year at the school and she had long since stopped being interested in the food. It was generally the same...not that it wasn't good...just that it wasn't...the best. She had her book of occupations next to her plate on the table and was looking rather maliciously at it. The book was heavy and hadn't been helpful yet. She was about ready to give up with it.
Her eyes were scanning the Great Hall. The people there tended to be more interesting than her plate of food or book. It was amazing what you could learn about people by just watching them. Take the twittering first year Ravies at the end of the table. They were eager to get to class. Adelaide smiled at them; she remembered when she was young and still craving knowledge from classes. That time had come and gone. At the stage now where she would look something up rather than wait for a professor to teach it, classes had become just a way to spend the day.
The third year Gryffindors were in a clump talking excitedly about something. ~Probably Quidditch. That's all the boys talk about at that age...~ Her gaze continued on, resting on a clump of Slytherin girls that seemed up to no good, but then again, were they ever up to good? Giggling slightly, Adelaide continued her scan. A sixth year Hufflepuff caught her attention. He seemed to be rather interested in something he had just taken from his pocket. ~Hmm...What's he up to?~
Standing, Adelaide tucked her book under her arm and walked toward him. Noticing that there seemed to be an unoccupied spot next to him, she gently slid her book onto the table and sat down. "Hi. I'm Adelaide...you seemed to be quite lost in thought...and since I was too, I thought I'd join you." She then noticed the box that she assumed had come from his pocket. "What have you there?"

Bryan looked at Adelaide with raised eyebrows as he opened the box. "Oh its a little something that will create some chaos and possibly a few laughs." Bryan said

~A little something that will create some chaos~ Well, that certainly didn't sound good. Nothing that could create chaos in a full Great Hall could be a positive thing. Her brow furrowed as she peered at the box. "So...what exactly is it?" She didn't mean to sound ignorant. Not at all, in fact, she was just curious as to what was in the box and didn't think sticking her nose to it would be the best idea. Especially considering she didn't want to be the blunt end of the joke. "Something that could cause chaos certainly can't be good. Granted, I'm all one for a laugh every once and a while, but not when someone gets hurt..." She tilted her head, wondering if he would give an answer sufficient to what she was looking for. What could possibly be so amazing that he would risk chaos and a detention?

“Miss Tewkesbury,” a cold voice said from behind a Hufflepuff and a Ravenclaw with their heads together, when two people from different houses were alone in private discussion it never seemed like anything good could come of it, and Professor Ruberagon was here to make sure nothing came of it at all. There was something somewhat disconcerting about the two who were speaking excluding all others.
“Did my ears deceive me, or would I be correct in thinking I just heard the word Chaos come from one, if not the two of you?” he towered over them both. It wasn’t that he disliked either one of them, but he could not help but think this girl might still be sour over a detention he had given her recently.
“What,” he said suddenly, taking in everything as all teachers do in times when it is least appropriate for the student, “May I ask, is in that box?” he could only assume it was their topic of conversation, if not at the very least his quota of curiosity would be filled for the morning.

Krutika was trying to learn summoning charm. As she was in her third year, she was still not much perfect with it, but it was very usual for her to try and practise new spells. She has placed a small box near the stairs, and was trying to practise charm on it. "Accio box!" she said slowly, waving her wand. But she wasn't yet perfect in it. A box came zooming towards her - but it was not the box she has intended to do practise on - it was the box carried by hufflepuff boy. It took no time for Krutika to realize she was not in a small trouble - alongwith hufflepuff boy and Adelaide was standing Professor Rubderagon. And although se wasn't sure what they were talking, but Professor was surely going to think she was up to something. "Oh no.." she muttered slowly, the box still clutched in her hands.

"Don't worry it won't hurt anybody." Bryan reassured Adelaide with a smile. before he got his hand in the box, he heard a voice behind them. Bryan turned around so fast he dropped the box. "Professor! We're doing nothing, what's wrong with a little chat between houses?" he asked in an innocent voice. he tried to cover up the box with his foot, but it wasn't there! He scanned the hall and found a ravenclaw girl with his box. 'don't open the box' he thought

Adelaide gasped quietly as Professor Ruberagon appeared behind her. She hadn't been expecting it and...well...she was startled. ~Could this get any worse? There's one student plotting to wreak havoc among the students, and now, the one teacher who hates me thinks I'm in on it too.~
A fast decision was vital. Either she told Professor Ruberagon what was happening, exposing the Hufflepuff...or went along with him and suffered the consequences. How could she be sure he would believe her even if she did tell the truth? Well...deciding on compromising between the two, Adelaide began to respond. "Professor Ruberagon! Goodness, you startled me! I, as you, had noticed this Hufflepuff," She racked her brain...trying to think of a hufflepuff boy that would be around her age.... "Bryan, I do believe, sitting alone. I thought I'd come and join him as it is very unnerving to see a Hufflepuff sitting alone, you and I both know what they're like. Had it been a Slytherin, it would have made more sense."
She stammered a bit here, realizing that Professor Ruberagon could indeed be a Slytherin...and she didn't mean to insult him in the least. That would be all she needed to do! "N--not that I have anything against them...they just seem to be more...aloof than others. Regardless, he was alone and I came over. He seemed to be fingering some box, and said something about chaos. I could only think at that moment that he was joking, for Hufflepuffs are known for their good nature. I mentioned something about the Great Hall being chaotic as it is..." She paused for a moment, catching her breath. Adelaide had been speaking at a faster speed than normal, knowing that if she prolonged her little speech any longer than needed, Professor Ruberagon would not be pleased. "So, yes, you did hear us both say chaos...but not in anyway that we shouldn't..." She smiled up at him...hoping her explanation had been sufficient.
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw the box fly out of Bryan's hands and into the Great Hall. ~Oh dear...this can't be good...Whoever has that box better not open it...~

((I am not actually deducting any points from any house, as I am quite enjoying this thread and feel it just fits to say I am))
“Accio” Professor Ruberagon chanted and the box slid away from the other Ravenclaw and towards him where he clasped it tightly in his hand. He did not need to open it to be able to see what was in it, “Miss Gehi,” he called the other Ravenclaw over and looked at the other two before him. He cast an appraising gaze over the scene, “How to deal with this,” he could not really believe his luck. It wasn’t that he liked punishing students; he only did it when he needed to, but if it was going to happen this way, then I supposed it might as well be with a student that already disliked him.
“Ten points from Hufflepuff, Ross, and a further twenty points from Ravenclaw… each. I don’t feel I should need to be reprimanding someone so soon after a detention, Miss Tewkesbury,” He said casting her an icy gaze. He didn’t really care what she had to say, and by trying to pin it on the Hufflepuff he felt only a little more contempt for the girl then usual.
“Mr Ross, explain yourself,”

Before Krutika can do anything, the box flew from her hand into Professor Ruberagon's hands. Not only this, he also deducted points from her. But it wasn't my fault.. she thought.. or was it her fault? She felt now angry on herself that why, on such a big castle, she has to choose this place to practise summoning charm. Wouldn't it be better if she would have practised it in her dormitory - or in any empty classroom - or best if in the room of requirement.. but no.. she has to select the entrance hall out of all choices.. where any student or teacher can come at any time. But be it whatever, she knew she wasn't guilty in this box matter, so she wasn't going to give up easily. She walked to Professor. "Sir, I did nothing," she said, then she realized it was not enough to explain so she added, "I mean nothing due to which points should be deducted. I mean.." how was she going to explain, "Well, its just that my spell got wrong at wrong place on wrong time.." she said. She wasn't sure that whether Professor will beleive her or not.

"Professor, this is nobody's fault but mine, Adelaide, and this other girl had nothing to with it. It's just a joke, to create a few laughs." Bryan said very calmly "Just a little warning professor, don't open the box." Bryan added as he started walking to the great hall but he stopped right beside the stairs

Jennifer came walking down the stairs to find a ravenclaw talking to Professor Ruberagon who was holding a box which looked strangely familiar and her boyfriend, Bryan walking away from them. "Bryan what is going on? Why- wait that box that Professor Ruberagon is holding, isn't that the box of mice I have for my owl? What are you doing with it?" Jennifer asked looking at Bryan sternly

As Professor Ruberagon took the box, Adelaide threw her hands up in despair. ~What more could go wrong?!~ After he called Krutika over, she stood, not intending to be the only one left sitting. "Professor Ruberagon...really. Krutika had nothing to do with this. And neither did I. I'm not really sure why you hold such contempt for me. Honestly, I served my detention for my outburst in class, can't you let it go? I'm really not a bad person..."
As he continued and deducted twenty points for both she and Krutika, and only ten from Bryan, she clasped her hands in an attempt to stay calm. "Twenty points each? Don't you think that's a bit harsh? Especially when neither of we, meaning Krutika and I, had anything to do with it. It's just, like Krutika said, a simple matter of being in the wrong place at the wrong time."
When Bryan agreed and told Professor Ruberagon that they, indeed, had nothing to do with it, Adelaide nodded. ~Well, it's about time he fessed up.~ She turned her attention to Professor Ruberagon. "See. We didn't do anything wrong! I really would be pleased if I could like you as a person, but if you keep second-guessing my every move, it's rather difficult..." She trailed off as another student came down the stairs and addressed Bryan....Her eyes widened. "Mice?! There are mice in that box? And you feed them to your owl? That's...that's..." She blinked. "...a bit...barbaric don't you think. Feeding poor innocent little mice to an owl. They don't even have a chance to live!"
She turned on Bryan. "And, you were going to let them go in the Great Hall?! Do you know how many people could have gotten hurt? What were you thinking?!"

"What?! You were going to let them loose! Bryan you dimwit!" she yelled, though she gave Bryan a wink as if she were with him in the joke.

Adelaide glared at the Hufflepuff girl when she winked at Bryan. "Dimwit? That's not exactly how I would have put it." She struggled to keep her voice under control...but...just barely. "With chaos in a place so large...do you have any idea how many people could have gotten hurt? It's the same reason you don't yell 'fire' in a crowded building for fun...It's just not something intelligent to do. Not to mention that the poor mice could have been trampled."
She shook her head in disgust before directing her attention to the Hufflepuff girl. "Speaking of the poor mice, if they're alive, which I assume they are, isn't it cruel to keep them boxed up? I mean, they're animals. Perhaps you've forgotten, but you are too. How would you like to be shut in a box all day just to be fed to someone's pet...not given a chance for survival at all? You wouldn't like it very much would you? I thought Hufflepuffs were known for their compassion? I suppose I was wrong. Ravenclaws must be the only ones with any sensible compassion."
At this point, she turned back to Professor Ruberagon. "Professor, not that you want to hear anything from me since you obviously hate me, but I think those mice should be released and at least given a chance for survival." Realizing how preposterous it was for her to be offering her thoughts on what should be done with the mice, she once again threw up her hands in despair. "You know what? I don't know why I bother. You're not going to believe me or give my opinion any mind. I'll just wait here quietly, I suppose. Unless...you don't oppose that too?" Sighing, she sat back down on the stairs, pulling her knees to her chest and resting her chin on her arms that she folded on top of them. She couldn't put the lives of those poor little mice out of her head...
