"I know you don't," Phoenix said, taking the pan off of the stove and pouring the chicken into a bowl. He traced his thumb across her cheek as he passed her on his way to put the pan away after cleaning it with a quick scouring spell. "It's one of the many, many things that I love about you."

Malak smiled at Phoenix, the smile steady, genuine and loving. "You're so good for me love," Malak said with a soft chuckle. "What would I do without you?"

Phoenix considered the question. "More than likely, you wouldn't be as far behind on your reading," he teased, kissing her cheek as he passed by again. He knew where he would be without her. He would be alone, likely secluded down in the dungeon working on some potion or other. Or else, he might have let himself be taken out of Hogwarts when Josh bit him, or he might have even... no, best not to think down that path.

"Who says I'm behind on my reading?" Malak said with a bright sparkle in her eyes. "You're underestimating my reading abilities sweet wolf prince. That and my need for sleep." Malak chuckled. She survived on a flux of six to two hours of sleep depending on the day.

"Then you'd be much more well rested without me?" he guessed, smiling. "How's the cheese coming?" he asked, getting ready to put everything together. He tapped the oven and it blazed to life.

"The cheese is ready and no I wouldn't be more well-rested. I have this problem sleeping sometimes. So I just don't. I work just fine without it. Also, it helps me keep up with schoolwork, reading, and correspondance with my family. Before, I actually had to find things to amuse myself because I couldn't sleep. Now...now I don't ever have to worry about that. One of the benefits of loving you." Malak said taking the cheese to Phoenix.

"We'll need to find a way of sending signals to each other. 'Can't sleep, meet me in the garden,'" he said, half joking. He took the cheese and began arranging everything to put in the oven, then stopped, frowning. "I've reached the limit of my know-how," he said, frowning. "How long do I put these in there?"

"Only a few minutes," Malak said chuckling at his frown. "And we should probably seriously consider that message idea. Especially since both of us seem to be such night owls." It was an idea with some merit. Malak wouldn't mind getting to spend time with Phoenix alone at night. It wold allow them some peace and quiet.

Phoenix put it in the oven, then checked his watch. "Perhaps linked parchments? Write something on one, it appears on the other?" he suggested. He smirked, "Useful for nights when the Room of Requirement isn't filled with people trying to embarass each other?"

Malak laughed merrily out loud. "Yes, that's a very good idea," she said. "Either of us can do the spell and it wouldn't seem unusual for the two of us to walk around with papers. We are who we are after all."

Phoenix smiled. "You mean two insufferable bookworms who are either up to their necks in work or being insufferably cute together?" he teased, recalling what he'd overheard one of the Hufflepuff boys saying a couple days past when they'd walked by him.

Malak chuckled. "Well, we have to do it right don't we?" Malak asked. "Besides, our friends (and usually our families) find nothing wrong with us. And I proudly claim that title of bookworm." She had never heard them be called insuffereably cute though. She hadn't thought about it. "Who called us insufferably cute?" She asked, her face scrunching in confusion and concentration.

"Oh, I don't know who he was. Some boy we walked past the other day, I heard him say it to the person he was walking with. I'll point him out sometime, he's in your house, you might know him."

Malak shook her head and shrugged. "To each his own opinion I suppose. I just never would have thought of us like that. I suppose people might see us like that though. The people who don't know us. My cousin just finds me loveably annoying. I doubt she'd ever seem me as insufferably cute. The rest of my family, especially my siblings, would laugh at the idea. Though I can agree with the cute part for you, just not the insufferable."

Phoenix grinned. "Well, you aren't used to listening to what people whisper about you like I am. Insufferably cute, disturbingly sweet, conjoined at the hands... I've heard plenty of little comments by people that seem... well, jealous. And I've laughed at every one of them."
