Phoenix and Malak made their way to the kitchen, and after convincing the house-elves that he would let them know if he needed any help, he finally got them to accept the fact that he and Malak could be served better by letting them be as the elves went about their business.
"One thing you can't say is that house-elves aren't helpful," Phoenix mused as he and Malak found themselves in their own little private area of the kitchen.

One thing you can't say is that house-elves aren't helpful. Malak chuckled and nodded at Phoenix's assessment as she looked around the kitchen. She had actually been to the kitchen once before. But that had been a different instance. She liked this time a lot more.
"It was a close call," Malak said leaning against Phoenix. "I thought that someone was going to catch us before we could sneak out. It was fun though."

"Well, all in all, it's better that I didn't have to duel our way out of there," he said with a grin. "A little disappointing, though... every prince should get to defend his princess every so often. Now... what to eat, what to eat..."

"You defend me often enough," Malak assured him. "I think if you had to defend me anymore I would be worried about you." Malak told him. "And I think I'm in the mood for some chicken quesidillas. What about you?"

Phoenix tapped the icebox a few times, and the ingredientscame floating out, settling themselves onto the table. There weren't any tortillas, of course, but he tapped a loaf of bread with his wand, transfiguring it into a stack of them. "I think it's an excellent idea," he answered, smiling. Picking up a knife, and ignoring the indignant looks of the house elves, he started slicing the chicken.

Malak bit her lip to stifle the chuckle. She knew that the house-elves meant well, ut it was an exciting thought to get to cook. She hadn't done it in a while, but she was going to try it now. "I'm glad you agree," Malak said brightly. While Phoenix worked on the chicken, she began working with the cheese.

"It's food, and I'm a man. There are very few objections that can be had," he joked. "Still," he mused jokingly, "It is a bit of a shame that I can't dare you into anything." He winked at her as he slid the first sliced chicken breast onto a plate and took a second to start on.

Malak stuck her tongue out at Phoenix. "You're assuming I would take a dare. For one thing, I don't play truth or dare (th'ats Aeyldis's job. Even if I did play, I would only ever go for truth. I have nothing to hide so it doen'st scare me. Dares do."

Phoenix chuckled. "Oh, come now. Do you really think I'd dare you to do something bad like that?" He considered it for a moment, then added. "I think I'd likely be on the other side of the matter... I don't think I'd pick truth."

Malak shook her head. "I just don't like truth or dare period." Malak said. "The first (and only) time i played it, I got dared to eat a lot nasty things. Needless to say, it didn't work out well."

Phoenix made a face at that. "That's just mean," he said. He looked over at her curiously. "What would you have asked me, if we had to play?" he asked, curious.

"Hm," the sound was soft as Malak thought about it. What would she have asked them if she could have asked Phoenix anything. "I think..." Malak began slowly. "That I would have asked when you had your first kiss."

Phoenix chuckled. "You should know. You were there and played a key role in the event," he said, looking for a pan to cook the chicken in.

Malak was blushing even as she smiled. She stopped gratting the cheese and looked at Phoenix. "I was really your first kiss? How is that possible? You're handsome and charming. People must be lacking more sense than I thought."

Phoenix shrugged. "Like I said... I was damaged goods back in America. Granted, I'm even more damaged now," he added, reasonably. "Honestly, it still astonishes me that you wanted anything to do with me."
