Malak raised an eyebrow. "People are so strange to me. I'm still trying to understand them, but it still doesn't make sense. Why would they be jealous? We're just two people with our quirks and oddities trying to live life as best we can. What's so special about that?"

"What's special?" Phoenix echoed, quirking an eyebrow at her as he pulled the quesadilla out of the oven. He smiled as he walked over to her, putting his arms around her. "What's special, my love, is that for all of our quirks and oddities, and fears and scars, we're both completely, insanely happy." He paused. "At least, I assume that you are, because I am," he added with a little smile.

"How could I not be happy?" Malak asked almost perplexed as she hugged him. "I'm with the man that I love. What more could a girl ever want?" She could smell the quesidilla, but she ignored it. Instead she rested her head against Phoenix's chest. "Honestly, some would wonder about you." Malak considered tickling Phoenix for a moment. Then she gave into the impulse and began tickling his sides.

Caught off guard, Phoenix started laughing and trying to block her hands. So instead he retaliated, going for her sides as he backed away from her, only to find that he was backed up against the counter. Oh hell, I asked for it this time...

Malak bit her lip squirming trying to resist the urge to laugh as she tickled Phoenix back. He was trapped against the counter. She just had to keep him there. If he could manage to pin her hands she would have been doomed. But so far, he was too busy laughing. And soon, whether he continued tickling her or not, Malak would be laughing as well.

PHoenix's attempts to scramble back were so frantic as he laughed and tickled her that he ended up backed onto the counter... which really didn't help his case. His feet no longer touching the floor as she continued her assault, he desperately tried to catch her quick-moving hands, never quite managing due to the fact that he was laughing too hard to move quickly.

Malak began laughing. Not quite as hard as Phoenix of course, but laughing nonetheless. The situation was wonderfully comical and enjoyable too. Malak eased up a little to allow Phoenix to breath even as his feet left the ground.

Phoenix took a deep breath, then caught her wrists and quickly rolled, trying to pin her against the counter. Unfortunately, he'd scooted far enough off the ground that he only managed in getting both of them rolling around on the counter, tickling each other and laughing madly.

Malak was shocked to find herself rolling around the counter with Phoenix tickling him even as he tickled her. She was having trouble breathing. Malak found herself on her back finally unable to move. "I yield! I yield!" She cried with breathless laughter.

Phoenix stopped immediately, trying to catch his breath, too, as they lay on the counter together. "Good," he gasped, "Because I was about to say the same thing." He grinned at her, then kissed her nose as they caught their breath.

Malak shook her head. "I should have held out for a little longer than. I might have had a chance of saying I actually beat you," Malak teased hugging Phoenix. Her stomach growled and Malak blushed knowing that Phoenix would have been able to feel it. "I think that's our cue to actually eat the food we made."

"Of course," Phoenix said, smiling, as he slid to the floor and held out his hand to help her down. "We were just... making sure that it wasn't hot enough to burn our mouths," he decided with a little chuckle. "And you can tell anyone that you beat me if you want. I won't argue," he added, winking at her.

Malak laughed and shook her head. "No, when I say I beat you, it'll be the truth because I've done it fair and square. We'll just admit that you won this round and I'll make sure that I win the next round. Sound good enough?" She asked even as they both stood up.

Phoenix nodded as he cut the quesadilla. "That sounds good. Of course... you never know when the next round will happen," he warned her. He waved his wand and a couple plates slid out of the cupboard and soared over to him. He caught them easily, then served up the snacks.

Malak took her plate gratefully. "Is that a challenge love?" she asked quirking an eyebrow before taking a bit of the quesidilla. It was good. Her mother had never made them. She had first encountered the food during one of Emmie's birthday parties. She had loved it ever since. Eating one with Phoenix now made things even better.
