Veritas climbed the stairs onto the sixth floor corridor. He looked around at the various paintings... it was one of his favorite corridors in the entire castle. There was Reyhana the Rowdy, the funniest portrait he'd seen throughout the castle, and the one of the old grey horse. That one just always made him think. Anyways, he was here to amuse himself with his wand and some marbles. He took a bag of marbles and emptied them onto the floor. They were green and blue glassy with a spark of light within. He pointed at them with his wand and made them knock into each other... he couldn't really think of anything else to do. Ideas?

Krutika was passing sixth floor corridor when she heard noise and on looking in there she saw that some green and blue marbles were floating in air and knocking each other. Sixth floor corridor was usually empty, and it was thus surprising to see anything like that from there so Krutika walked inside it. She saw a Hufflepuff boy was there, probably who has casted spell on the marbles. Krutika looked back at marbles, and grinned at the way they were knocking each other. She looked back at the boy and somehow managed to stop grinning about marbles, "Er.. Hi. Sorry I didn't mean to disturb; its just that you don't find flying marbles at this place everyday so I got a bit curious," she said.

Veritas grinned back at her. "Don't worry, your presence is welcome. I'm trying to find some way to pass the time while I'm not doing my Transfiguration essay. Actually, if you wanted to stay a while, we could play a game... care to join me?" The marbles sparked brighter every time they ran into each other, not to mention they sped up. They were getting to the point now where it was all just a cloud of blurred lights in motion.

"Alright," he said immediately, the cloud falling straight to the ground and the marbls now bouncing slightly. "I stand on this side of the hallway, and you stand on the other... take this pouch of marbles--" he handed her a bag full of similar marbles, but these were pink and yellow ones. "I'll take the green and blue ones, and someone counts to three, then we pelt them at each other, using nothing but banishing spells. It works on your precision skills," he added with a smug look, as if he had come up with the best game in the world. He loved charms, after all.

"Ok," said Krutika, taking the bag of marbles. She walked towards the other end of the corridor, and emptied the bag of marbles on the floor. "So, shall we start?" she asked, taking out her wand.

"Ok," said Veritas. Then he counted, "One... two... three!" He sent marble after marble flying in the general direction of Krutika, but they all kept richocheting off the walls. Of course, every time they collided with something, they tended to get brighter and gain speed, so that very soon the hallway was full of light and dangerously fast objects. *Maybe not the best idea... hmm, I should cast some sort of cushion charm so hers don't hit me... soon...*
((oh darn! I don't know the word for the banishing charm. Do you?))

(No.. I think it wasn't mention in the books)
Krutika too waved her wand. She was not an expert in Banishing spells, but she managed to let them fly at Veritas. Like the marbles Veritas was using, these marbles were too getting brigther and and gaining speed as they collided with anything on corridor. "By the way," said Krutika trying to duck away from green and blue marbles, "Where did you get these marbles from? They are too good.."

"I know, right? I love these marbles... This summer, my mum made me help her clean the attic. She's a muggle, and there are loads of magic things up there, since the house used to belong to my grandparents. I was kinda glad I did it, because I found all these things that I brought with me this year. The marbles were in the top left drawer of an old, crumbling (not to mention ridiculously dusty) ebony dresser. I asked, and dad says they used to be his okder brother's. Not anymore, I guess..." he trailed off, watching a few more of Krutika's marbles wedge themselves into his invisible barrier. These he promptly banished back to her.

"Oh great," replied Krutika. She was quiet enjoying the game now. "I think I will become quiet an expert in Banishing Spells after this," she smiled, banishing away the marbles which were coming her way.

"So what brought you along the sixth floor passageway anyway?" asked Veritas, still consumed in his game.

"Well, its just my hobby to roam around the castle," said Krutika with a serious expression, then chuckled shaking her head, "As a matter of fact, there are so many things about this castle which are hidden.. I just love exploring it."

"I know what you mean," he said, dodging a marble that broke through his shield. "I love the fact that no one really knows this place inside and out. There are so many rooms that no one has been in for ages, and so many tapestries hiding doors no one has openned for centuries. This place is so much bigger than it seems, and it already seems enourmous."

"Yes right," Krutika said, banishing away several marbles at once. "So what about you? Why did you chose this corridor for passing time instead of any other place at castle like quidditch pitch or lake or library?"

"It felt like an inside day, and I didn't feel like sitting in the library. I like this hallway because there are never any people here, and the paintings are nice," he rubbed his forehead, where another marble had broken through the shield and hit him. He sent a few more marbles flying Krutika's way. They were starting to fly straighter.
